JOB FUNCTION

Reporting to the Director of Underwriting, this position provides administrative and technical support to the underwriting team, facilitating the achievement of corporate and departmental goals and objectives. This opportunity will appeal to post-secondary graduates interested in growing and developing their career in the financial field.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provide technical and administrative support for new business quotations, renewals, plan design alternatives and reports
  • Responsible for the calculation, analysis and determination of appropriate rates in relation to health and dental benefits for small groups
  • Assist team members with the analysis and preparation of quotes and renewals on all group benefits
  • Receive, respond and distribute various correspondence
  • Process requests for various reports
  • Compile, verify and input data
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned

 
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Completion of a two year post-secondary diploma or certificate with a focus in finance, management or a related field and 1-2 years’ experience in an office environment
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry or benefit products and services would be considered a definite asset
  • Strong mathematical and analytical ability
  • Willingness to participate in industry related training (i.e. CEBS)
  • Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel with the ability to easily learn new software programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to handle shifting priorities and meet frequent deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to independently establish goals and objectives and effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development
  • Ability to work under general supervision and as part of a team
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
