JOB FUNCTION

Working as part of the Technology Solutions team and reporting directly to the Team Lead, this position is responsible for supporting the technical and operational direction for cloud solution initiatives at Saskatchewan Blue Cross.  The successful candidate will be committed to quality standards and will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, and providing input on, appropriate policies, procedures and standards in your day to day work.

 

DUTIES & RESPSONSIBILITES

  • Research and provide recommendations on appropriate cloud infrastructure solutions that support business initiatives; based on compute, data and security
  • Implement approved services used in cloud operations such as connectivity, security and access following established guidelines
  • Design, configure, and deploy data flow control to and from the cloud, providing on-going maintenance, timely communication, and documentation
  • Support all cloud infrastructures and services including server and OS level support, networking and operational support in a multi-site environment
  • Assist with the planning, developing, execution and support of application processes in cloud environments; including migrations and integrations
  • Prepare comprehensive test and installation plans for deployments and upgrades to cloud services; facilitate plan reviews, document risks and risk mitigation strategies and follow established change management procedures
  • Provide administrative assistance and guidance to IT technical team on cloud solutions
  • Monitor the health, utilization and operational performance of cloud resources to ensure service level expectations are met
  • Identify, analyze and diagnose operational irregularities for cloud technologies and recommend strategies for resolution and initiate service calls as needed to correct technical problems and deficiencies
  • Assist with the development of a cloud governance framework and provide operational recommendations based on best practices and industry standards 
  • Offers Tier II Technical Support, providing advanced troubleshooting, analysis and resolution of escalated technical issues
  • Support, execute and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plan for cloud services
  • Assist with research and other related projects and duties as assigned
  • Provide backup support to other Technology Solutions team members as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or post-secondary diploma in Computer Systems Technology, and a minimum of 3 - 5 years directly related experience.  An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft, AWS and / or Google Cloud Solutions Architect, Microsoft 365 Admin, MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure and, VMware would be considered an asset
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of network topologies; Ethernet, LAN, WAN and TCP/IP
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, Azure and other Windows-based technologies
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, virtual environments, web administration, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow and other cloud solutions would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of server hardware and software with the ability to easily learn new technology
  • Service focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities within established guidelines
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel from time to time and work outside of core operating hours
  • The successful candidate may be required to undergo a background check
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
