Saskatchewan Blue Cross, one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers, is currently recruiting for a full time Technology Systems Analyst in the Information Systems & Technologies (IS&T) Department located in our Saskatoon office.

 

JOB FUNCTION

The Technology Systems Analyst is part of a dynamic IT Service Delivery team and reports directly to the Manager, IT Service Delivery. With a focus on business value and security, this position is responsible for maintaining a secure, highly available and high performing virtual environment for Saskatchewan Blue Cross.  The Technology Systems Analyst will contribute to the establishment of corporate-wide security management programs and solutions to ensure information and assets are protected. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Security Incident Response Team and will be responsible for following and providing input into appropriate policies, procedures and standards in day to day work.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains the successful daily operation, installation and administration of the company’s Intel server and IBM i Power Systems infrastructures, virtual environments and business applications and services
  • Ensures optimal and secure operation of server infrastructure through update management, audit cycling, performance monitoring, event and incident management
  • Provides high level business application service delivery, utilizing problem identification, diagnosis, tracking and resolution strategies
  • Recommends additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security
  • Provides support in the execution and remediation of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits
  • Implements security controls and executes on enterprise security standards (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures) where appropriate
  • Assesses infrastructure and solutions for security gaps and vulnerabilities and remediate as required
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, and anti-virus software.
  • Performs security and hardening activities on new and existing Windows, SQL, web, and applications servers
  • Performs backup and recovery of the company’s digital assets; participates in the planning, development and implementation of backup and recovery procedures
  • Acts as a key member of the Business Recovery Team; prepares and annually executes business recovery events, documents findings and provides recommendations
  • Prepares comprehensive test and installation plans for upgrades and deployments of both hardware and software; facilitates plan reviews, documents risks and risk mitigation strategies and follows established change management procedures
  • Identifies, analyzes and corrects technical problems and deficiencies
  • Offers Tier II Technical Support while providing advanced troubleshooting, analysis and resolution of elevated technical issues
  • Identifies operational irregularities and provides recommendations to resolve
  • Assists with research and other related projects
  • Provides backup support as required
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or post-secondary diploma in Computer Systems Technology, with a minimum 5 years of directly related experience.  An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CSA, CISA, CySA+, CASP+, VMware, EMC, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA and NSE would be considered an asset
  • Security experience including a working knowledge of frameworks and controls such as NIST will be considered an asset
  • Experience with Windows Server operating systems and VMware 6.0+ are essential
  • Must possess knowledge of basic network topologies; Ethernet, LAN, WAN and TCP/IP
  • Experience with IBM I (AS/400) hardware and operating system would be considered a valuable asset
  • Knowledge and experience with database administration, cloud applications, and storage and backup technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of server hardware and software with the ability to easily learn new technology
  • Proficiency in maintaining a website would be considered an asset
  • Experience with SQL, DB2, Microsoft Office 365, ServiceNow, IBM StoreWize v7000, EMC Networker and/or Data Domain would be considered an asset
  • Service focus with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities within established guidelines
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel from time to time and work outside of core operating hours
  • The successful candidate may be required to undergo a background check
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
