Saskatchewan Blue Cross®, one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers, is currently recruiting for a full time Application Developer in the Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Department located in our Saskatoon Office.


Working as part of the application development and delivery team under the guidance of the Team Lead and reporting directly to the Manager of  Application   Delivery, IS&T, this position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting application systems.  The successful incumbent will contribute to the   ongoing improvement of IT services, be committed to quality standards, and participate in the team by assisting others, sharing information, and contributing to   goals.


  • Work as part of a team to develop new functions, applications, and technical specifications to respond to changing needs, while ensuring adherence to the department’s development standards
  • Support and maintain existing applications; identify and propose application system improvements
  • Contribute to and follow development standards and best practices
  • Prepare and execute unit tests; develop and maintain system documentation
  • Provide work estimates and progress updates
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the application development and delivery process
  • Regular review and assessment of developmental goals, accomplishments, and priorities to meet personal, departmental, and organizational objectives
  • Perform other related projects and duties as required


  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Post-Secondary diploma in Computer Systems Technology with a focus on Programming, and a minimum of 2 years directly related experience.  An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
  • Previous experience developing web applications utilizing JavaScript, .NET, DBMS such as MS SQL Server or DB2
  • Knowledge of version control tools, and continuous integration and delivery will be considered assets
  • In-depth knowledge of REST API, Web Services, integration, and MVC architecture will be considered assets
  • Knowledge of low-code development, front end frameworks, reactive web applications, and mobile development will be considered assets 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand and document program requirements
  • Strong desire and ability to explore and exploit existing and emerging techniques and practices for better delivering values
  • Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively with others, as well as independently with minimum supervision
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities within established guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to work within time constraints to meet strict deadlines
  • Must be customer oriented and possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
