Protection you can rely on

When you have life insurance, you can feel secure knowing your family is protected should you pass away. If that happens, life insurance will provide your loved ones with a death benefit—a tax-free, lump sum payment. This can help take care of their financial needs and pay off debts.

This could include:

  • mortgage payments
  • support for a spouse
  • funeral costs
  • childcare costs
  • tuition costs
  • everyday living expenses

Types of life insurance

When it comes to choosing a plan, you have a few options to consider. Let’s take a closer look at the 2 types of life insurance we offer.

What is Term Life Insurance?

Term Life Insurance provides flexible, short-term coverage for a certain number of years. This plan lets you choose how long you want coverage for.

Choosing a term length

Blue Cross Life® Insurance offers term lengths of 10, 20 or 25 years. If you pass away at any point during your term, your beneficiaries will receive a death benefit.

Choosing a term length depends on the kinds of financial responsibilities you might have now and in the future. You’ll want to make sure the plan provides coverage for when your family will need the most financial support.

Key benefits
  • Coverage up to $10 million.
  • For people who are 18 to 70 years old.
  • Term lengths of 10, 20 and 25 years available.
  • Coverage may be available with no medical exams, depending on your medical and lifestyle history.
  • Ability to convert to Whole Life Insurance if your needs change.

What is Whole Life Insurance?

Whole Life Insurance (also known as permanent life insurance) provides lifetime coverage. It does not expire and remains in effect as long as the premiums are paid. At death, your beneficiaries will receive a tax-free lump sum payment equal to your coverage.

Key benefits
  • Coverage up to $500,000, depending on your age.
  • For people who are 18 to 85 years old.
  • Premiums remain the same throughout your life.
  • Coverage may be available with no medical exams, depending on your medical and lifestyle history.

Medical exams

To qualify for no medical exam, you must answer no to all medical and lifestyle questions. If you answer yes or if there is a report about your insurability, you may be asked to provide more information after submission. Medical exams are required if the age and sum insured fall outside the following ranges.

Customize your plan with optional insurance

A rider is insurance that you can add to enhance your existing plan. It provides additional financial protection against the unexpected.

Easy answers to tough questions

Life insurance is more affordable than you might think. For a cost similar to your monthly cell phone bill, you can ensure financial peace of mind for you and your loved ones.

Whole Life Insurance premiums are usually higher than Term Life Insurance. While you may pay more, you receive lifetime coverage and your premiums do not change for the duration of your coverage.

Most people choose to buy life insurance when they experience a significant life event, such as marriage, welcoming a new child or purchasing a home. While life insurance is cheaper to buy if you’re healthy and younger , it’s an investment you can make any time. The money you leave behind will help reduce the financial stress when you’re gone.

To help you determine how much coverage you need should you pass away, consider the debts, assets and other family needs that may occur, along with any income that may be available.

Enter those details into the coverage calculator to find out how much coverage you need.
