More than a decade ago, Saskatchewan in motion was only one of many possible ideas being tossed back and forth regarding a provincial physical activity strategy. Since 2003, when this “idea” was put into motion, the Saskatchewan in motion movement has grown to become a true provincial institution recognized at home and across the country, as a leader in the fight against physical inactivity.
Saskatchewan Blue Cross began its partnership with Saskatchewan in motion in 2013 through the Go Out and Play Challenge. Each year, Saskatchewan communities identify a project to get more kids more active, more often, and rally support for their project by encouraging individuals and families to log their physical activity online. The winner takes home a $10,000 prize toward the completion of its project. The number of participating communities now surpasses 25 each year.
