About the Scholarship

The Saskatchewan Blue Cross Health & Wellness Scholarship offers Saskatchewan residents pursuing post-secondary studies within the province the opportunity to receive financial assistance to support their education.

Each year, Saskatchewan Blue Cross will award four scholarships of $2,500 each

This scholarship is designed to support students who are committed to strengthening Health Literacy, promoting community wellness, and advancing inclusion within Saskatchewan.

Who Can Apply?

The Saskatchewan Blue Cross Wellness Scholarship is open to Saskatchewan high school graduates, returning post-secondary students and mature students who will be attending a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution prior to the end of the current year.

Applicant Requirements: 

  • Be a resident of Saskatchewan
  • Be a Saskatchewan high school graduate, returning post-secondary student, or mature student who will be attending a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution prior to the end of the current year.
  • Confirm that they are not an immediate family member of a current Saskatchewan Blue Cross employee. For the purposes of this scholarship, “immediate family member” includes a spouse, common-law partner, parent, child, sibling, or any individual residing in the same household.
  • Consent to the Declaration of Information
  • Consent to the Release of Information for Promotional Purposes

Application Requirements

If selected, successful applicants must provide the following:

  • A letter of acceptance, or proof of enrolment or continued attendance, at a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a full-time program of at least two years in duration, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate, or graduate programs
  • Proof of tuition payment prior to the scholarship being awarded

How to Apply

  • Applicants will be asked to respond to the following topics:
    • Health Literacy: How do you access information and take an active role in making decisions about your own healthcare?
    • Community Health and Wellbeing: How do your actions contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of the community you live in (for example, through volunteering or community involvement)?
    • Diversity and Inclusion: How do your actions support and promote an inclusive and equitable community so others feel valued, respected and supported?
  • Submit your application during the intake period (March 16 – June 15, 2026) through the official online application form*

The Scholarship

Each year, four (4) recipients will be awarded a $2,5000 Saskatchewan Blue Cross Health & Wellness Scholarship, featured in a spotlight story or photo, and promoted across Saskatchewan Blue Cross channels.

Selection Process

Applications close June 15, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the intake period, with final review completed in July 2026 and successful applicants notified in August 2026. Required documentation and scholarship processing will be completed in September 2026.

Recipients Announcement

Four (4) scholarship recipients will be formally announced on October 1, 2026, in alignment with Health Literacy Month to highlight our commitment to advancing health literacy across Saskatchewan.

SASKATCHEWAN BLUE CROSS WELLNESS SCHOLARSHIP PERIOD 

The Saskatchewan Blue Cross “Health & Wellness Scholarship” (“Scholarship”) commences March 16, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. CST and ends on June 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CST (the “Intake Period”). This Scholarship is sponsored by Saskatchewan Blue Cross (“Scholarship”). 

APPLICATION 

Applications must be submitted using the online application form provided by Saskatchewan Blue Cross. A dedicated application form for the Scholarship will be available during the intake period. 

Intake Period: March 16, 2026 – June 15, 2026 

The Saskatchewan Blue Cross Health & Wellness Scholarship will award $2,500 each to four (4) successful applicants per year.  

The Saskatchewan Blue Cross Wellness Scholarship is open to Saskatchewan high school graduates, returning post-secondary students and mature students who will be attending a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution prior to the end of the current year. 

The applicant must: 

  • Be a resident of Saskatchewan. 
  • Be a Saskatchewan high school graduate, returning post-secondary student or mature student who will be attending a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution prior to the end of the current year. 

Applicants must agree if they are one of the selected applicants to provide:  

  • A letter of acceptance to a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a full-time program of at least two years in duration, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate programs; or
  • Proof of enrolment or continued attendance at a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a full-time program of at least two years in duration, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate programs; and
  • Proof of tuition prior to the scholarship being awarded. 

Applicants will be required to: 

  • Complete the online application form with current contact and post-secondary information.
  • Provide a reference that Saskatchewan Blue Cross may contact to verify information provided within the application. This person should be aware that the applicant is applying for the scholarship and cannot be a family member.
  • Submit their application within the intake period (March 16 – June 15, 2026) and through the online application form to be eligible for consideration.
  • Provide release of information allowing Saskatchewan Blue Cross to release and utilize their photo which would include the applicant’s name, location (city/town only), school information and post-secondary information, answers to the Health Literacy, Community Health and Wellbeing, and Diversity and Inclusion questions submitted (in whole or part) as required for the purpose of scholarship promotion.
  • Provide declaration with regards to the information provided.
  • Applicants will be required to answer the following questions:
    • Health Literacy: How does the applicant access and take control over their own healthcare decisions.
    • Community health and wellbeing: How does the applicant’s own actions improve and or contribute (i.e. volunteering) to the community that they live in.
    • Diversity and Inclusion: How does the applicant’s own actions support and foster an inclusive and equitable community so others may feel valued, respected and supported. 

Applicants will be asked and required to confirm that they are not an immediate family member of any current employee of Saskatchewan Blue Cross. For the purposes of this application, “immediate family member” includes a spouse, common-law partner, parent, child, sibling, or any person residing in the same household. 

ELIGIBILITY 

  • Must be a Saskatchewan resident
  • One application per person
  • Applicant must be a Saskatchewan high school graduates, returning post-secondary students and mature students who will be attending a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution prior to the end of the current year.
  • Submit within the intake period (March 16 – June 15, 2026) and through the online application form 

HEALTH & WELLNESS SCHOLARSHIP RULES 

1. Applicant must agree if they are one of the selected applicants to provide:

  • A letter of acceptance to a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a full-time program of at least two years in duration, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate programs; or
  • Proof of enrolment or continued attendance at a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a full-time program of at least two years in duration, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate programs.

2. A selected applicant must provide proof of tuition prior to the scholarship being awarded:

  • A selected applicant must submit an official, stamped, or digital receipt from their educational institution showing that tuition has been paid, along with a completed voucher or reimbursement form.
  • The documentation must clearly indicate their name, the institution’s name, the date the program started, and the exact amount of tuition paid.
  • The tuition paid must be equal to or greater than the value of the scholarship voucher.
  • Statements that show tuition due but not yet paid, as well as personal bank or credit card statements, will not be accepted.  

3. Applicants will be required to answer the following questions within the application:    

  • Health Literacy: How does the applicant access and take control over their own healthcare decisions.   
  • Community health and wellbeing: How does the applicant’s own actions improve and/or contribute (i.e. volunteering) to the community that they live in.   
  • Diversity and Inclusion: How does the applicant’s own actions support and foster an inclusive and equitable community so others may feel valued, respected and supported. 

4. Provide a reference that Saskatchewan Blue Cross may contact to verify information provided on the applications and/or submission. This person should be aware that the applicant is applying for this scholarship and cannot be a family member. 

5. The applicant if chosen, agrees to allow Saskatchewan Blue Cross to release and utilize their photo and publish or promote their submission which would include their name, location (city/town only), school information and post-secondary information, answers to the Health Literacy, Community Health and Wellbeing, and Diversity and Inclusion questions submitted (in whole or part) as required for the purpose of scholarship promotion. 

6. The applicant must sign a declaration agreeing to the following: 

  • They have truthfully answered the questions on the application form.
  • They have read and understood the entire application and agree to abide by the award conditions.
  • Information submitted by the applicant regarding the three questions on Health Literacy, Health and Wellbeing, and Diversity and Inclusion become the property of Saskatchewan Blue Cross and may be used in whole or in part in publications and/or promotion by Saskatchewan Blue Cross.
  • If they are chosen, they will use the award proceeds only for costs directly related to their post-secondary education.
  • They understand that the value of the award and/or the conditions governing the award may change at the discretion of Saskatchewan Blue Cross.
  • The personal information in their application is collected by Saskatchewan Blue Cross in order to administer the Saskatchewan Blue Cross Health and Wellness Scholarship.
  • Applicants will be asked and required to confirm within their initial application that they are not an immediate family member of any current employee of Saskatchewan Blue Cross. For the purposes of this application, “immediate family member” includes a spouse, common-law partner, parent, child, sibling, or any person residing in the same household.  

No purchase necessary. By applying for this Scholarship, the entrant agrees to accept and abide by these rules and regulations (the “Health & Wellness Scholarship Rules”). All decisions of the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor with respect to any aspect of this Wellness Scholarship, including without limitation the eligibility of applications, are final and binding on all entrants. 

By applying for this initiative, each entrant consents to the use of all submission content for promotional or storytelling purposes, in any publicity or advertising carried out in any medium world-wide by either or both the Wellness Scholarship Sponsor and/or their advertising or promotional agencies without limitation or further notification or compensation. Saskatchewan Blue Cross will not use the information provided for any other purposes. Organizations and/or applicants who apply for and are awarded a grant agree to participate in reasonable promotional activities, including media and social media features. 

Any entry may be rejected if (in the sole and absolute discretion of the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor) the entry is not fully completed with all required information or if the entry is not submitted and received during the Intake Period, does not comply with these rules, is submitted by an ineligible participant or organization or contains inappropriate or offensive content. 

HEALTH & WELLNESS SCHOLARSHIP 

Four (4) recipients will each be awarded a $2,500 Saskatchewan Blue Cross Health & Wellness Scholarship. Selected recipients will be featured in a photo or story spotlight and may be promoted across Saskatchewan Blue Cross channels to help amplify the Health & Wellness Scholarship. 

Health & Wellness Scholarship must be accepted as awarded and may not be sold, transferred exchanged, assigned or refunded. Health & Wellness Scholarship may not be substituted for cash. The Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility and use of funds in accordance with its charitable giving policies. 

SELECTION PROCESS 

After the intake period closes, an internal panel appointed by Saskatchewan Blue Cross will review all eligible applications. Saskatchewan Blue Cross will select four (4) recipients, who will be formally announced on October 1, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the intake period. Selected recipients will be notified in August 2026. The selection of recipients is at the sole discretion of Saskatchewan Blue Cross.   

Submissions will be evaluated based on: 

  • Completion of all application requirements
  • Clarity and impact of responses to the three topic areas: Health Literacy, Community Health and Wellbeing, and Diversity and Inclusion
  • Potential opportunities for Saskatchewan Blue Cross storytelling
  • Representation from communities across Saskatchewan 

Prior to final approval, the four (4) selected applicants will be required to provide: 

  • A letter of conditional acceptance to a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a full-time program of at least two years in duration, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate, or graduate programs; or
  • Proof of enrolment or continued attendance at a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution in a full-time program of at least two years in duration, including certificate, diploma, undergraduate, or graduate programs; and
  • Proof of tuition payment prior to the scholarship being awarded. 

The awarded recipients will be notified via email in August 2026. If the selected entrant does not respond within eight (8) business days of first contact, the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor will have the right to disqualify the entrant and select the next eligible organization at the sole and absolute discretion of the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor. 

Before being declared a recipient of the Health & Wellness Scholarship, the selected recipients must sign and return a Declaration and Release Form (and any other documents, as applicable) within ten (10) days of Notification. Scholarship will be awarded, subject to these Health & Wellness Scholarship rules. 

If a potential recipient does not comply with the Health & Wellness Scholarship rules, declines the scholarship, fails to return the required Declaration and Release Form (and any other applicable documents) within 10 (10) business days of notification, or does not respond to correspondence from the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor (or if such correspondence is returned as undeliverable), the scholarship may be forfeited. In such cases, the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate recipient in accordance with these Health & Wellness Scholarship rules. 

GENERAL 

HEALTH & WELLNESS SCHOLARSHIP SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. 

Saskatchewan Blue Cross is collecting personal data about the entrants for the purpose of administering this Health & Wellness Scholarship and may share this information with parties retained by the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor in connection with the administration of the Health & Wellness Scholarship. No further informational or marketing communications will be received by entrants, unless the entrant has specifically opted-in to receive such communications. The Health & Wellness Scholarship respects your right to privacy of your personal information. Please review Saskatchewan Blue Cross’ Privacy Policy at sk.bluecross.ca for details on how the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor collects, uses, discloses and manages your personal information. 

This Health & Wellness Scholarship shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Saskatchewan and the laws of Canada applicable therein. 

The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Health & Wellness Scholarship rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Wellness Scholarship rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. 

The Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor reserves the right to adjust any of the dates, timeframes and/or other Scholarship mechanics stipulated in these Health & Wellness Scholarship rules, to the extent necessary, for purposes of verifying compliance by any entrant or entry with these Health & Wellness Scholarship rules, or as a result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Health & Wellness Scholarship Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Health & Wellness Scholarship as contemplated in these Health & Wellness Scholarship rules, or for any other reason. 

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Health & Wellness Scholarship or Health & Wellness Scholarship –related materials, the terms and conditions of these Wellness Scholarship rules shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law.
