Clients can convert their group benefits to an individual Saskatchewan Blue Cross retiree health plan within 90 days of their group coverage ending. This window helps prevent gaps in protection and creates a smooth transition during the early stages of retirement planning. It also helps Advisors continue to guide clients as they adjust to new routines, budgets, and health considerations.
Flexible options to match retirement lifestyles
The retiree health plan includes more than 36 possible coverage combinations. Advisors can work with clients to select options that reflect their health needs and retirement lifestyle.
Plans are offered at three levels: Basic, Classic and Enhanced. Each level provides a different balance of protection and cost, giving retirees the ability to choose coverage that fits their priorities.
Every plan includes Extended Health Benefits, VIP Travel Coverage and Prescription Drug Coverage. Clients who want broader protection can add Dental Coverage as an optional enhancement.
Eligibility at a glance
To qualify for a retiree health plan, clients must:
- Live in Saskatchewan with valid Saskatchewan Health coverage
- Be 50 years of age or older
- Be retiring or recently retired and losing coverage through a group benefits plan
- Apply within 90 days of their group coverage ending
