Developing initiatives and collaborating with organizations that honour diversity and inclusion, fostering an inclusive, equitable, and accessible community where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.

Saskatchewan Blue Cross stands with organizations that foster inclusivity, equity and accessibility in communities across our province. Together, we’re working towards a future where everyone feels valued, respected and supported, and free to be their authentic self without fear of discrimination, harassment, or violence.

2SLGBTQ+

Celebrating diversity and inclusion in all its forms is important every single day of the year. Pride month is about honouring those who fought for basic human rights and paved the way for the 2SLGBTQ+ community, while acknowledging the continuing
work for diversity, equity, and inclusion in our communities and workplaces. At
Saskatchewan Blue Cross, we provide employee access to allyship education courses, in addition to supporting:

  • Queen City Pride in Regina as a gold sponsor in support of the annual Queen City Pride Festival.
  • Spark Your Pride, a daylong event at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon celebrating the lives of aging adult 2SLGBTQ+ people in Saskatchewan.
  • Queen City and Saskatoon Pride Parades through employee and family branded participation in a show of allyship.

Truth and Reconciliation

Saskatchewan Blue Cross supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 Calls to Action as an organization founded to support the wellbeing of all residents of Saskatchewan. We’re committed to hearing the voice of our employees, continuing on our learning journey, and to creating new partnerships with Indigenous-led organizations aimed at improving health-related services for Indigenous communities in Saskatchewan.

Recognizing the observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 is done annually to provide employees with the opportunity to learn, listen and reflect. Programs are provided to all employees to learn more about the shared history of residential schools.

On National Indigenous Peoples Day, Saskatchewan Blue Cross reaffirms our commitment to reconciliation with our support and participation at the Rock Your Roots: Walk for Reconciliation event in Saskatoon. The Walk for Reconciliation gathers Indigenous, non-Indigenous and Newcomer peoples at Victoria Park to demonstrate their commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. In addition, as a member of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Network (EDIN) in Regina, Saskatchewan Blue Cross proudly participates and supports the National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration. The event allows the community to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Indigenous peoples’ unique heritage and outstanding contributions.

Central Urban Métis Federation Inc.

CUMFI is considered one of the leading Aboriginal Supported Housing and Wellness Community Organizations in Saskatoon. With properties throughout the Saskatoon Core Neighbourhood, CUMFI provides vital support for disenfranchised and vulnerable populations while also providing affordable living for those in need. Their focus has always been on supporting women, children, and families. They provide cultural guidance and support to a plethora of organizations and businesses in the community. Their partnerships with both the Catholic and Public-School Boards are integral in the teaching and learning of Métis and First Nation Culture and history.

Saskatchewan Blue Cross supports the annual CUMFI Métis Cultural Days, taking part in promoting and sharing cultures and practices. This grass roots, Métis-focused event raises awareness, encourages the public to participate and educates in Métis arts, culture and history.

Spirit of our Nations Cultural Celebration and Pow Wow

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) hosts the Spirit of Our Nations Cultural Celebration and Pow Wow in Saskatoon. Saskatchewan Blue Cross partners with First Nations Insurance Services (FNIS) to support and participate in this initiative.

The Pow Wow Celebration honours the spirit of unity and cultural diversity of all First Nations and is an opportunity to support and share in the rich and vibrant cultural history of First Nation people through song and dance.
