Supporting Hospitals of Saskatchewan

Investing in the health and wellbeing of our community is part of Saskatchewan Blue Cross’ mission. The path to whole health and wellness is complex and is deeply tied to socio-economic factors like education and poverty. Our approach is equally complex; however, one of the most direct ways we contribute is through investments into our healthcare system.

Saskatchewan Blue Cross works with hospital foundations across the province to ensure that residents have access to the care they need, when they need it. Our support helps fund lifesaving equipment and technology, upgraded facilities, and medical training that improve the quality of patient care.

Pandemic support for hospital foundations

Providing support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, special relief funding has been distributed to thirteen regions across the province. Regions supported include:

  • Rosetown (Alex Ositis Foundation)
  • Biggar (Biggar & District Health Services Foundation)
  • Swift Current (Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation)
  • Eston (Eston & District Health Care Foundation Inc.)
  • Kipling (Kipling and District Health Foundation)
  • Lloydminster (Lloydminster Region Health Foundation)
  • Prince Albert (Mont St. Joseph Home Inc.)
  • Moose Jaw (Moose Jaw Health Foundation)
  • Nipawin (Nipawin Region Health Foundation Inc.)
  • Melfort (North Central Health Care Foundation)
  • Weyburn (Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation)
  • Regina (Hospitals of Regina Foundation)
  • Saskatoon (Royal University Hospital Foundation)

Purchases like iPads, visitation booths, projectors, and art supplies have improved patient connectivity and provided stimulating activity during lockdowns. New monitoring equipment and telemetry systems have reduced strain on healthcare providers while expanding bed capacity. Additional rehabilitative equipment (requiring full sanitation between usage) facilitated quicker patient recovery, while emergency funding for specialized protective equipment helped keep front-line staff safe.

Other support for hospital foundations

We are proud to sponsor several fundraising events each year, helping to raise the profile of important initiatives while contributing critical funding. A few examples include:

Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital

Supporting the Share the Love, JPCH Radiothon , and Jeans and Jewels Gala events help to fund maternal and pediatric equipment and research at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.

Royal University Hospital

Contributions to the Greek Gourmet Feast and FFUN Spirit Champions Golf Classic events help to build and equip new state-of-the-art operating rooms, reduce wait times and save more lives at Royal University Hospital.

St. Paul’s Hospital

In support of the expansion of the healing arts program and patient care at St. Paul’s Hospital, the Mistletoe Charity Ball and Gift Basket Campaign generates funding to impact more lives.

Saskatoon City Hospital

Our longtime support of The Enchanted Forest Holiday Light Tour supports rehabilitation services, neuroscience research, and breast cancer treatment at Saskatoon City Hospital.

Supporting healthcare facilities and providers is just one of the many ways Saskatchewan Blue Cross strives to create a future with lifelong health and wellness for every person in Saskatchewan.
