Mexico

As of February 22, 2026, the Government of Canada has issued advisories affecting certain regions of Mexico. Advisory levels vary depending on the destination.

What Should You Do

1. Contact Your Airline
Reach out to your airline to understand your options, including flight changes, cancellations, refunds, or alternative routing.

2. Monitor Official Travel Advisories
Stay informed by checking Government of Canada travel advisories regularly for updates that may affect your destination.

3. Register with the Registry of Canadians Abroad
We strongly recommend registering with the Government of Canada’s Registry of Canadians Abroad. This free service enables officials to contact you with important updates or in the event of an emergency while you are travelling.

4. Review Your Insurance Coverage
Coverage depends on the plan you purchased and the date of purchase. Review your travel insurance coverage details within the Member Portal.

Can I extend my insurance contract if I am unable to return home as planned due to travel restrictions? Icon/UI/plus-circle

If you must extend your stay due to a situation beyond your control, promptly contact our Member Experience team at 1-833-729-0186 if you are in Canada or USA or 1-306-518-0145 (collect) from any other country to find out if you are eligible for a contract extension. Make sure you contact us before the expiry date of your contract. Please note that any request to extend your coverage will be subject to our approval.

Does Blue Cross travel insurance cover cruises? Icon/UI/plus-circle

Yes. Cruises are included in the travel insurance coverage, as long as you meet the pre-existing medical condition requirements of your contract.

How do I file a claim? Icon/UI/plus-circle

You can file a claim directly with Blue Cross Travel Assistance — they’ll guide you through each step of the process and the documentation required. You will have two options for submitting a claim: 

  1. Online: Complete the secure online claim form available through the Saskatchewan Blue Cross website or directly from Customer Space.
  2. Paper form: Download, print, and mail the claim form along with supporting documents if they prefer to submit by mail. Blue Cross Travel Assistance will review the claim and contact the member if additional information is needed.

Your travel coverage begins the day you depart from your province of residence and ends once you return to your province of residence.
