Hard Hat Zone

Saskatchewan Blue Cross announces construction has begun on the expansion of its main office in Saskatoon. Work started on the site in early December and is expected to continue into 2014.

The General Contractor for the project is Wright Construction Western Inc. The company has been in the construction industry for over a century and has strong roots in Saskatchewan.

“If you’ve passed our 2nd Avenue office lately you may have noticed some activity already happening with construction equipment and personnel,” said David Patola, VP Finance & Administration. “The on-site work over the next 6-8 weeks will be focused on building the stairwells, elevator shaft and parkade ramp. This work is being done now because the areas can be covered and heated to prevent frost. Once the weather has warmed up in the spring, there will be a larger scale excavation of the site.”

“As with any construction project of this magnitude, there is bound to be some impact on the surrounding area,” Patola continued. A walkway is being built on 2nd Avenue along the work site and will occupy the parking lane. The City also has approved the closure of a portion of alley backing the worksite between 26th and Queen Street.”

Saskatchewan Blue Cross thanks our neighbours and the people of Saskatoon for your continued patience and support. Updates and photos of the construction project will be shared on Twitter at www.twitter.com/SKBlueCross
